Growing Artichokes In Cashiers

Cashiers is almost 4,000 feet elevation. Artichokes

do not overwinter here. We had seen them in Calif.,

and decided to give them a try.

We started this plant in 3-2010, overwinter it in a cold frame, replanted it this spring and it is fruiting.

The foliage looks good in a border with yellow or red chard.

There were some aphids last year, but none so far this year.
