Day Trip to Smoky Mnt. National Park

February is a great time to day trip to the smokys. Sunday Marcia and I left Cashiers at 8:00 AM drove to the park, hiked 10 miles, and were home in time to watch the super bowl. Our hike took so from 2000 feet

elevation to 5,000 feet elevation in 4 miles. The views are good this time of year because the leaves are gone and the humidity is low. At the higher elevations there was some spots of lingering snow and the temp was in the low 40's, but it was still comfortable. There are 900 miles of trails in the SMNP which provide every conceivable type of hike. The scenery is non stop, and the trails are not crowded.
