This is the first wildflower of the season. Look for Liverwart near water.
It might also be a good idea to wait for the snow to melt. I recon we have about 10 inches to go.

High Hampton Rock Mountain Room 9-2011

High Hampton Inn's bar is the "Rock Mountain Room". It has a patio and garden with a water fall fountain. The purpose of the garden is to hide the kitchen area and the fountain provides white noise which mask the kitchen fans. Views from the patio are to the north where you see Rock Mountain, Hampton Lake and the golf course, a beautiful vista. During the winter weeds were removed from the garden. Both mint and Queen Anne"s lace were getting out of control along with binders vine. The standard hydrangeas were cut back and staked as were the rhododendrons. Some parts of the garden had been lost to grass so they were reclaimed and amended with compost. The entire area was mulched with double ground hardwood bark. Annuals were planted in April and pots of Dragon wing Begonias and white Scavola were put on the rock wall. A Dahlia bed was add to hide a cottage. Who Done It In The Hen House...

The Chattooga Garden is a flower and vegetable garden. It has 4 large rectangular beds which are separated by grass alleys. In the rear there are 6 raise beds, a pumpkin patch, and the chicken coop. It is usually a very nice place to be. The hen house was built with salvaged lumber and tin from a shed that was on this site before the garden. The lumber is poplar with some boards as wide as 24". We used chicken wire was to secure the coop on all sides including the floor. The residence of the coop are 6 hens and 1 rooster , Dutch bantams. Last week 8 eggs hatched . Everyone was pleased with the prospect of a larger flock. This, however, did not work out. The day after the hatching the chick count was 6. Two chicks had vanished without a trace. Day three there were no chicks to be found and no signs of foul play. What happened to the babies? After reading I suspect we have rats.
