signs of an early spring

Checking out the the Great Meadow Sunday we found signs that spring is arriving early .
We saw gangs of robins .

The red alder trees flowers are ready to bloom
as are the maples.

The thistle rosettes are getting larger,

and last year's rhododendron blooms have released the last of their seeds.
We saw the first spring wildflowers pushing through the leaves,

and the woodland frogs had laid eggs.

Frogs usually don't come out until the middle of March.
That makes them about 3 weeks early.
Its early to declare winter over.
March is the month of big snows.
